Plastic Surgery Options for Men
Face Lift: (Rhytidectomy)
As we begin to age, our skin begins to loosen and sag. Deep lines begin to appear in the natural folds of the skin around the nose and forehead. Fine lines or “crows feet” begin to appear around the eyes and mouth. The skin around the chin and neck begin to sag “turkey neck,” causing us to appear older than our actual age. While heredity, environmental damage, and prolonged exposure to the sun can accelerate the aging process, a gradual decline in the smoothness and texture of our skin is inevitable as time and gravity wins the battle over our skin.
The Procedure:
Generally, an incision is made around the temple area in front of the ear and continues around the ear lobe to the scalp. The skin is raised as the surgeon lifts and tightens the underlying muscle and connective tissue. The skin is then gently pulled, placed back into position, and the incision sutured or clipped.
Patient Considerations:
Many factors contribute to the success of a face lift procedure. Only a skilled plastic surgeon can determine the right combination of procedures and techniques that best match your skin type, ethnic background, skin elasticity and bone structure. The goal is to restore a natural appearance to the face with minimal detection. At The Plastic Surgery Group our plastic surgeons are board certified by the American Board of Surgery and have years of experience in face lift procedures. Setting realistic expectations from your face lift surgery and discussing those options with your surgeon will help maximize your result.

Neck Lift: (Platsmaplasty)
As we begin to age, our skin begins to loosen and sag. The neck muscles become weak and unwanted fat deposits make our neck appear larger as our skin begins to sag. A neck lift is a procedure to eliminate the sagging skin from our neck and tighten the skin that remains resulting in a more elegant profile and youthful appearance.
The Procedure:
An incision is made under the chin and/or behind the ears. Skin is tightened while excess skin is removed. The incisions are sutured to hold the tissue in place.
Patient Considerations:
Only a skilled plastic surgeon can determine the best neck lift procedure and technique that best match your skin type, ethnic background, skin elasticity and bone structure. The goal is to restore the neck contour and remove excess skin at the neck and under the chin. At The Plastic Surgery Group our plastic surgeons are board certified by the American Board of Surgery and have years of experience in face lift procedures. Setting realistic expectations from your face lift surgery and discussing those options with your surgeon will help maximize your result.

Eyelid Surgery: (Blepharoplasty)
Fat deposits and excess skin on the upper and lower eyelids can result in drooping upper lids and puffy bags below the eyes. These excess fat deposits may interfere with your vision and make it appear as if you are tired or older than your actual age.
The Procedure:
An incision is made along the natural lines on your eyelids, the creases of your upper lids and the crease just below the lower lids. Excess fat deposits and sagging skin is removed and the incisions closed.
Patient Considerations:
Only a skilled plastic surgeon can determine the best eyelid procedure that best addresses the number and size of fat deposits and fine lines around the eyes. At The Plastic Surgery Group our plastic surgeons are board certified by the American Board of Surgery and have years of experience in eyelid procedures. Setting realistic expectations from your eyelid surgery and discussing those options with your surgeon will help maximize your result.

Brow Lift (Forehead Lift):
Lines in the forehead and drooping brows can appear to make a person look angry or tired. A brow lift reduces the size and length of unsightly forehead lines while gently lifting sagging brows.
The Procedure:
A number of options are available to a plastic surgeon to correct sagging brows and addressing lines on the forehead. The more traditional approach involves an incision along the top of the forehead and down the sides of the head in or near the hairline. The skin of the forehead is lifted so that underlying tissue and fat can be removed and muscles tightened. The eyebrows are then elevated and excess skin trimmed away to create a smooth appearance.
A newer option for patients is the endoscopic forehead lift. Smaller incisions and a quicker recovery make the endoscope a popular option. A pencil sized camera connected to a monitor is inserted through a small incision allowing the surgeon to see the muscles and tissue beneath the skin. Another surgical instrument is inserted in an adjacent area where the forehead tissue is lifted and muscles tightened creating a smooth appearance to the brow and forehead.
Patient Considerations:
Only a skilled plastic surgeon can determine the best brow lift procedure that best addresses the specific needs of the patient. At The Plastic Surgery Group our plastic surgeons are board certified by the American Board of Surgery and have years of experience in brow lift procedures. Setting realistic expectations from your brow lift surgery and discussing those options with your surgeon will help maximize your result.

Rhinoplasty (Nose Surgery):
Surgery of the nose, or rhinoplasty, is the ideal procedure for patients who wish to reshape or resize the look of their nose. Patients with deformities of the nose that make it difficult to breath may also look to surgery of the nose to restore normal breathing patterns.
The Procedure:
Incisions are made just inside the nostrils at the opening of the nose. This allows the surgeon access to the bone and cartilage. Depending on the severity of the deformity or the pre-operative shape and size of the nose the surgeon will determine the first step in reshaping the nose. The surgeon may elect to remove the obstruction or hump on the nose in order to narrow the bridge of the nose to give it a smoother profile. Wide nostrils can be brought closer together.
Patient Considerations:
Only a skilled plastic surgeon can determine the best nose surgery procedure that best addresses the specific needs of the patient. At The Plastic Surgery Group our plastic surgeons are board certified by the American Board of Surgery and have years of experience in nose surgery procedures. Patients are reminded that a nose surgery procedure can dramatically change the look of your face. Although results can be seen within a few days, it may take months before the final shape and size of the nose can be appreciated. Setting realistic expectations from your nose surgery and discussing those options with your surgeon will help maximize your result.

Facial Implants (Chin Implants):
Patients with very little chin or “tortoise” looking profile often elect to undergo a chin implant procedure to give more balance to the face.
The Procedure:
An incision is made under the chin or inside the mouth to allow for the placement of the chin implant.
Patient Considerations:
Only a skilled plastic surgeon can determine the best chin implant size that best addresses the specific needs of the patient. At The Plastic Surgery Group our plastic surgeons are board certified by the American Board of Surgery and have years of experience in chin implant procedures. Cheek Reduction (Buccal Fat Reduction):
The fat in the cheek area is referred to as buccal fat. Patients with excessive deposits of fat in the cheek area, the so called “chipmunk cheeks,” seek reduction of the cheek area.
The Procedure:
A small incision around the cheeks and gums is made to expose the main cheek muscle. Excess fat is removed and the incision closed.
Patient Considerations:
Only a skilled plastic surgeon can determine the appropriate amount of buccal fat to be removed for patients. At The Plastic Surgery Group our plastic surgeons are board certified by the American Board of Surgery and have years of experience in buccal fat removal procedures. Patients are reminded that a buccal fat removal procedure will change the look of your face.
